97% owned present serious research and verifiable evidence on our economic and financial system. This is the first documentary to tackle this issue from a UK-perspective and explains the inner workings of Central Banks and the Money creation process.

When money drives almost all activity on the planet, it’s essential that we understand it. Yet simple questions often get overlooked, questions like; where does money come from? Who creates it? Who decides how it gets used? And what does this mean for the millions of ordinary people who suffer when the monetary, and financial system, breaks down?

TESLA!

Why should cars burn gasoline?

The Tesla Roadster isn’t just fun to drive – it provides exhilarating electric miles with technology more efficient than any other sports car. An engine dependent on combustion will never attain the efficiency of the Tesla electric powertrain. The driving efficiency of a Roadster is 88% compared to 20-25% for traditional gas-powered cars. The experience of beating an equivalent gas-guzzling sports car off the line is exhilarating – and using less energy to do it makes the Tesla grin that much bigger. While hybrid (including plug-in hybrids with “range extenders”) technologies increase the efficiency of internal combustion, they are still less efficient than an electric vehicle like the Tesla Roadster.

Tesla vehicles are the only cars that get more efficient from the moment they’re first driven. The Roadster charges with electricity from the grid – whether the grid is dominated by natural gas or coal, or increasingly by solar and wind energy. And as the grid shifts to increasingly efficient technologies, Tesla vehicles reap the efficiency benefits. The opposite is true of a gasoline-burning car, which get less and less efficient as it ages. Plus, a Tesla can be charged with electricity created from 100% renewable energy – no other sports car can say the same.

Waste up in the air!

http://www.marcgunther.com/wp-content/uploads/mn_cleantech_149_mac-300x206.jpg15 October 2010
Jet and diesel fuel can be produced in a simple economic process using waste products of wood processing and pulp mills, claim US scientists.

World decline in fossil fuel resources, rising oil prices, and an increased awareness in environmental impact has made the search for alternative renewable fuel sources extremely important. Sustainable production of fuels has been attempted using non-food biomass (composed of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin) and vegetable oils. But these methods only make light alkanes that are not suitable for use as jet and diesel fuel due to their high volatility, so jet and diesel fuels are currently still reliant on petroleum-based crude oils.

In the search for alkanes more suited for transport fuels, George Huber at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and colleagues have shown that waste feedstocks from biomass power plants or composite wood manufacturing facilities can be turned into jet fuel in an integrated and economical process.

4 step process produces heavy alkanes suitable for diesel

Huber treats a hemicellulose extract from hardwood trees, a common by-product from the wood manufacturing industry, in a four-step process that includes acid hydrolysis and xylose dehydrogenation, aldol condensation, low temperature hydrogenation, and high temperature hydrodeoxygenation. High yields of 76 per cent are obtained and the cost works out to between $2.06/gal and $4.39/gal, depending on initial xylose concentration, refinery size and overall yield.

It is imperative that we develop inexpensive routes to produce these liquid fuels from our renewable resources,’ comments Huber. Though in its beginning stages, Huber hopes it can be developed to a commercial level.

David Shonnard, director of the Sustainable Futures Institute at Michigan Technological University in the US comments, ‘this is a significant step forward in achieving sustainable transportation. The economic analysis is also particularly important and the sensitivity analyses highlight promising pathways for improvement.’

H2oil!

In the vast, pristine forests of Western Canada, the war for water has already begun

Thanks to Albertas Athabasca oil sands, Canada is now the biggest oil supplier to the United States. A controversial billion-dollar industry is heavily invested in extracting crude from the tarry sands through a process so toxic it has become an international cause for concern. Four barrels of glacier-fed spring water are used to process each barrel of oil, then are dumped, laden with carcinogens, into leaky tailings ponds so huge they can be seen from space. Downstream, the people of Fort Chipewyan are already paying the price for what will be one of the largest industrial projects in history. When a local doctor raises the alarm about clusters of rare cancers, evidence mounts for industry and government cover-ups. In a time when wars are fought over oil and a crisis looms over access to clean fresh water, which resource is more precious? And what price are we willing to pay? — Gisèle Gordon.
